mmmmm I've heard you can use Expertool from Gainward to reduce the fan speed? Not 100% on that.

Or buy a Zalman VF700CU cooler.

expertool was a god send that I never knew existed! now the card is whisper silent on normal 2d mode with 50% on idle and then on 3d mode i have throttled the fan speed down to 80% temperatures never exceed 60oc either which is excellent.

my cards a BFG 6600GT btw

click the expertool icon on the startmenu near the clock and select performance from the list that comes up then you should see in that pane something that says 'fan speed control' click that and then have a play in there.

If your card supports this feature then you will be able to change the settings otherwise i presume they will remain greyed out actually do nothing.

hmmmm their is a post on overclockers.co.uk that guides you through playing around in the cards bios to enable the temperature reader which is built onto all 6000 series nvidia cards which in turn enables you to control the fan speed.

In saying that though surely you have a temperature reading on your card for the price you paid????

I have heard a few people say the fans are loud but mine runs silent out of the box. If you really want to lower the noise you will have to change the sink and fan for a Arctic NV5, runs at lower noise levels which is what you are after.

I mean an arctic cooler for the cards only going to be £20, i dont think you can start slagging it for been noisey. If the new asus ones are anythign to go by, http://www.hexus.net/content/reviews...lld19JRD0xMjc5 big heatsinks and fans are jsut whats going to happen. They have to do someting with that heat. It is a shame that the fans are cheap and noisey, mabey soom we will see OEM grapics cards that you chose you own heatsink for.
