Help me choose my next graphics card

I'm getting to end of my tether with ATI2DVAG BSOD crashes , so I'm looking at moving back to nVidia.

I need a single slot AGP ( 1.5V ) card that has good performance, but doesn't run too hot.

    What would you suggest ??

6600GT(stunning card for the price) or a 6800GT/Ultra if you want the extra performance. I reccommend XFX

6800LE or 6800NU both can be had for around £130 which is amazing value to say the least especially if they can be softmodded to unlock the 4 extra pipelines and overclocked to Ultra speeds!

I'll do a hunt round and see what I can get.

MOst of the 6800 cards I've seen from places that'll ship out here, are double slot though.

Problem I have is that I run at 1680x1050 in HL2, so I need some juice to keep the frame rates good

Why don't you try and find out what he prob;em is first.

Blue screen errors, are very raely Video card related. Usually, ram errors or windows/HD related.

I've spent the last three to four weeks trying to sort this, but I son't seem to be getting anywhere. I never really ran into problems with nVidia stuff, but the X800XT seemed to be the best option for a Shuttle case, if I wanted power.

One of the BFG 6600GT OC might be the best option...not quite so much juice, but should be cooler and quiter than my X800Xt.

Most of the 6800gt's are 1 slot. I have a BFG 6800gt parked in my shuttle at present!
    Not around too often!

yea... most GT's are single slot no doubt... but they tend to be really long and cramps up in a SFF...

Gotta say its not likely the card to blame. PSU is most likely, maybe the heat build up in the case.

Have you tried it with the case OFF? If it solves it, I can't see getting an nVidia will sort the situ..they are hot too

I've been hearing good things about the BFG cards. The system does run slightly hot as the ambient room temp is 30 degrees at the moment.

I bought the system from The Glow Lounge, so if it is a system fault, I'll get it all changed under warranty.

What worries me is the high number of ATI2DVAG errors I'm finding after a quick Google.

Use driver cleaner 3 here to remove all the drivers from all the cards you've had in your system. Then run it again and remove the rest of the ATI stuff (iirc it's ati2cqac.dll, ati2dvaa.dll, ati2dvag.dll [your problem, most likely corrupt], ati3d1ag.dll etc).

Download and install the latest Cat 5.6 drivers using the control panel version (top one) and not Catalyst Control Centre (ccc) here That should do it. I don't think the ATI card is the problem. Let us know how you get on.
