Looking at the X800 xl, but theres also the XT and XT PE and x850's too. What are the comparisons in this card. It will be running alongside a 3800 venice

try this link - apparently this week only, but a fully fledged XFX 6800GT. Not bad for the price i guess. I cant stretch to that much, so i may be looking to get the Asus card below it.

agp or pci-e?
That XFX 6800GT looks like a bargain, I need a new graphics card, do you recon it would be a bit overkill with my system tho?
Athlonxp 2600+
512MB RAM
MSI K7N2 mobo
Radeon 9700pro
Areative sound blaster 2zs
160GiB HDD
I've just bought battlefield 2 and it doesn't look too good on my pc...thought it might be the best option to upgrade my graphics card?
Sorry to go off-thread and answer bindo, but i reckon that you will definitely be held back by your ram and cpu. Especially if you want BF2 to run, as I've heard that it LOVES to be greedy with memory!! Maybe a 6600gt with your setup would be the most cost effective solution...
I don't think that a 6600GT would provide a particularly good performance boost over a 9700 Pro, especially for £120. You'd probably be better off saving, so that you can buy several components at once.Originally Posted by jonathan_phang

I'm going to be adding some more ram soon, prob about 1GiB so 1.5GiB in total, would I still be held back by my system?
im after a pci-e 6800GT XFX shown above better than a x800 XL for say counterstrike source?

Not a bad price. Just a shame i would rather brush my teeth with sand then wash my mouth out with battery acid, than order from OCuK again.Originally Posted by jonathan_phang

obviously I have been lucky with OCuk. I have ordered several times and had no problems except with a Tagan psu which was rma'ed quicky (less than a week from me requesting an rma to refund).
whereas my first experience of scan's (a better rep than ocuk) rma service has been less satisfactory...
so I guess with any pc online retailer you get good luck and bad luck

Either way, the diffence is always below 10%, you probably wouldn't even notice compared to your Ti4800
And at some you see a lot more 'bad luck' than others. When non-offending forum threads get deleted, and emails ignored, you know it's not bad luck. From places with good reputation, I usually find they are at least trying to help, or someone will. Other places the 'ignore' tactic seems to be passed down from the top...Originally Posted by YorkieBen
