I think its only 16.2 million colours
tft's won't do more than 24 bit colour anyway = 16'777'216 colours
16.2 isn't the same as 16.7. The 16.2 is dithered up from less colours and looks terrible.
and is that 4ms for full colour change or just black to white ?
It better reffered to as 18BPP and 24BPP imo. At 18BPP, you get 262,144 possible different colours. At 24BPP you get 16,777,216 so quite a HUGE differnce. Interpolation makes up this difference. The method of the interpolation is different for each brand and affects the quality a lot. Viewsonics are possibly the best although Ive not tryed every TFT.
I hardly notice it atall on my vx912 (12ms 19") - but then I dont notice any ghosting in anything atall on this tft. I think a 24bit TFT would be nicer than 18bit even if the responce time were doubled esp. if they start making 24bit at <=16ms.
I expect the rating to be exactly the same as all the other mS ratings which is grey to white?
Not actually tried an 18 bpp monitor so I have no idea how bad it looks. Both of mine are 24.
