    That sounds about right for a non overclocked 6800gt, with a bit of overclocking on the card you could a few hundred more points. My 6600gt gets 3300 stock and 3800 overclocked.

    I tend to run rthdribl and then use rivatuner to increase the clocks until artifacts appear.

    By running a 3d program while increasing the clock you can find the highest stable frequency that you can run in a 3d environment with the card hot rather than just increasing the frequencies in 2d and then hoping they'll be fine in 3d. Increase them one at a time, doesn't matter core or memory first but don't do them at the same time otherwise you won't know which increase has created the artifacts. In rthdribl artifacts are green flashing rectangles usually but it should be pretty obvious.

    GPU cores are quite resilient, they can take high temperatures and so you can't really break them easily. Don't worry about changing anything in the bios ie agp voltage or frequency as thats a bit much hassle for the small increases you will get.

    yar sounds fine.. oh and if you don;t need to oc then don't only do it if you actually need the extra power
    AMD3000+ ATIX800XL + GBNF44x mobo.. all at stock because they're good enough atm + CA A1 amp-->Mission 73S Loigtech MX1000 + 1GB ram + 1/3 TB HD array
    Wintendo XP + Linux (when it works) .. just incase you were wondering
