    X850 Xt Pe

    GPU temp = 39
    Environment temp = 42
    1: Does that sound right
2: I took one of the pins off my arctic silencer so the ram would fit in the slot, and the Rig has now been on for 4 hours since then, so looks like it didnt have an effect ?

Environment temp means the temperature of a sensor on the pcb. Not sure where the sensor is but it is not on the memory chips.

I assume both of your temps are idle temps - stock cooler would hit around 75c under load usually.

Mine is stitting at 37c idle (32c water) and 45c max. load watercooled

You will need to make sure that the fan goes to 100% at around 60°c otherwise theres a good chance it will overheat when it get into the 80's- this will make your pc crash often.

For overclocking, I am using systool and atitool (both made by w1zzard on techpowerup).

With stock X850XTPE cooler, and under stock fan speeds, it will let the gpuget to ~85-90c and crash.

This was tested on 4 cards, so I do know what Im talking about.

Ati tool allows changing speeds. Versions before 0.24 had a bug so update to a version after that if you havent already higher version.

As I found out after playing BF2 in this heat with my new card, although mine never crashed, just got a message saying the card had been underclocked to prevent any damage.

Then I found out about the ATI Tool and it has not gone above 70c playing BF2.

Merlin4458 install ATI Tool 0.24 and run the show 3D option. Let me know what you card temp gets up to in this heat. Just want to know how much better the AC5 is than the stock HS, and whether it's worth killing my warranty and putting one on.

ATI tool is crap, unless you wanna change fan speed.

Rivatuner 15.6 is awesome. It monitors your temps on a graph while your gaming, etc.

ATI Tool writes your temps to a log so after you have finished gaming you can see what your temps reached. So it's not "crap"
