    Pathetic 7800 performancer, fuzzy text?

I get 90 bloody frames a second in COD:UO, 1600x1200 nothing else on. What the hell it up with this?

I also get a very anoying flickering screen, and fuzzy text which to be honest, is not what i wated from a £400 video card.

I knew i should of stuck with ATI. I use a 19" CRT NEC and it was fine with my X800.

It's likely a driver bug or a misapplication of settings. Do you have Vsync on? What are you AA and AF settings? Any other settings of note?

In short, we need more information from you before we can help you with your issues.

Chemical Ali, that kind of post isn't really needed or welcome, cheers.

Even if i had full AA/AF of which both are not on, i should get far more than 90FPS, and no Vsync is not on, iam a not a noob.

Everything else is stock. Ive also downloaded the newest Naviset drivers for my monitor, same flickering, screen is also at 100hz, the best it can do at 1280x1024.

Doom 3 seems to play fine though? do quake 3 engine games have a lock? never used to on my X800 though.

Driver bug? so ive got to wait weeks for nvidia to release to new drivers?

Doom 3 isnt quake 3 engine for a start, its entirely new, but yes, its locked to 60fps. What CPu do you have? Turn all the antialiasing on, if the frame rate doesnt drop then youre cpu limited, which wouldnt surprise me, since cod doesnt really take great advantage of things like sm3 etc, which are the things that get you huge performance increases, what does riddick play like? or BF2?

Out of interest what do you get in 3dmark 2k3/2k5 with that card? and do they flicker?

His cpu is a 4400 m8, pretty sure thats not a bottleneck, can u test it will counterstrike source AA on 6, and everything else high and tell me what u get. So i can compare with my spec.

LOL, i was talking about COD, i know Doom 3 isn't Quake 3 engine doh.

My benchmark scores are fine, 8.6k in 05, 18k in 03, and no the 4400 is not a bottleneck at 2600mhz, so it's not that.

Like i said are Quake 3 games locked at 90FPS?

The fuzzyness could be the VGA-DVI conector ive been told elsewhere, anyone else know of this?

Is 90fps really going to impair your gameplay while you wait for an updated driver? 90fps is pretty good, my 6800 gt (408 core 1100 mem) can get pretty jerky in UO when there's a lot going on....1600x1200 x 4AA x 4AF everything on max

Thats not the point, and i don't need posts like this. In benchies on the net, i should be hitting over 200FPS easily, so obviously somet is wrong, and yes it feels jerky, to what i was used to on my X800.

I don't think it's throttling either, as it's 45-55C load and 75-82C load on with 30C room temps at times.

Generally the dvi adaptors are pretty crap, my old LG was noticeably crisper on VGA output rather than an adapted one. Although nvidia cards have never been known for their crispness ive never really noticed it, but then again ive never used an ATI on the same monitor.

As cptwhite says, it might be a driver issue, have you tried the 80.4s? quake3 engines definately dont have a cap, not at 90fps anyway, as i can quite easily get 100 in arena.
Is 90 your average or your peak or what?

Well it's normally at 90fps, but dips down to 30-50 in start of maps, which franky is horrible with 2GB of ram a Raptor, and a 2600mhz X2.

Yep ive tryed 80.40 beta's as well.

EDIT: Think i might off sorted the fuzzy screen, the PCI Express cable to the card, had somehow got to a funny angle and seemed to of coursed the problem.

Dont know what to suggest then, its literally just cod? Maybe a reinstall? defrag, perhaps somethings got a bit screwed somewhere, although i doubt it, unless it optimises its render path at install time, which might explain it i suppose, although its quite doubtful

Hmm seems the fuzzyiness is still there, but not as bad on dekstop.

Ive found this, do you think it would do a job? might be worth a try.

Weird that it's just a COD problem.

Have you tried reinstalling just it with all the fresh patches? Could just be one of those really random, freak incidents that is an unlucky hardware combo.

Turns out COD has a 91FPS limit. Turned it off, all is fine. Never had a problem with me X800 with it though, wierd.
