    Lightbulb Nvidia TI4600 (Gainward) Juddering

    Hi,

I have a Gainward Ti4600 video card which is running ForceWare 71.89 drivers.

When playing games, GTA San Andreas, HL 2, UT 2004 etc the graphics will go into a judder mode where they slow down immensly for about 2 minutes, then it will play fine for 10 - 15 minutes before doing it again.

I only get this in games, and never when doing other work or watching a DVD etc.

The system is a P4 2.4 with 2GB Ram running on an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Motherboard. I run Windows XP Pro SP2.

I havent done a full XP reload, and this might solve the problem, but I am interested to know if anyone else has seen or heard of this problem before ?

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers

    Andrew

I'd say it might be your graphics card tbh as it's getting on a little bit now

If it is being accessed, its certaintly not excessive amounts. I often have MS Outlook running, but it seems to happen when there is nothing open as well. The Virus software is only active at 21:00 for its daily scan, all the other time its just on access stuff which has been disabled and the game still judders.

a driver issue maybe. it may also be because it is nearly exactly the same as my MSI model which won't even work on 3d under windows on a msi k8t800. i have heard that some cards of the ti4600 series are incompatable with certain boards. it works sweet under linux and windows on another machine with a kt600 motherboard.
your computer is similar to a fridge in that if it cannot keep a beer cold then it sucks

    downloads?

are there any viruses actually on your pc, or anything that may be accessing the net at the same time, i.e. microsoft update.

try removing as many programs as you can at start-up that you know you could live without.

i had problems with hl2 restarting when i had microsoft antispyware in the background, what about msn?? - is that on?

or are we talking about you playing these games offline?
