Somewhere that sells radeon 9800s that are guaranteed to overlock??

    Hi Guys,

I read this thread on ocuk, and there are two people suggesting you can buy Radeons that are guaranteed to overclock to 420/360 for £250.

Does anyone know where? I haven't been able to find them....

    TIA

I suggest you PM or MSN one of the people that have said about them on OcUK...

    Yeah, tis a pain.

They don't have PM enabled on their forums, and I can't find any MSN/IM details - hence me asking here

    Grandmars esp from here:

    http://www.kl1128.fsnet.co.uk/vga.htm

People have bought from him quite happily, he also sells via Ebay with a very high seller rating ... so don't be put off by the ametuerish, unfinished appearance of the site. He was top guy for the Rad9700 for a long time, they often o/c'ed faster than 9700PRO & 9800 nonPRO. In any case almost all Rad9800 ahould get around 9800PRO speeds when o/c'ed, no need to pay extra esp as the perf diff isn't really that huge.

Yes that's seems to be one of his more shady sides as I'm very sure that card was sold for £160ish as a 9700nonPRO capable and guaranteed to that speed. I believe he's trying to take advanatge of ATI's 8500 days where the OEM versions were clocked slightly lower than the retail versions. This is no longer true of ATI cards. Seems strange he states 310/310 as all 9700nonPRO I've ever heard of were perfectly happy at 325mhz core and often higher (340-380).

it might be grandmars setting the clock to that, i doubt he is doing it, though it might be a typo.

iirc all 9700np/p cores are the same, they should all reach 380mhz without volt mods with adequate cooling.
ati iirc produce the cores and sell them to manuf - it costs the same if its 9700pro or non pro for the manuf to use the core

this should be same for 9600s, 9700s, 9800s and the earlyer cards
