I use ATI Tool, lets you adjust the fan speeds as well

cool thanks
Whats a good temperature range for the gpu in idle and load
I have a connet3D 850 XT PE, idle temp is 42c at the moment. Load, I have never seen it above 72c, that's while playing BF2 with the stock cooler.Originally Posted by Jming1084
You many have to set the fan to run at 100% at 60c or so, as I found that at default it was only set to run at 100% when it hit 90c :O

if that is the default setting surely that means its safe though?
Well I got a message box up telling me that the GPU had been under clocked to prevent damage before I was using ATI Tool. Although that was on one of those really hot days we had. Since using it, i've had no problems at all like that.Originally Posted by YorkieBen

I remember reading somewhere when the x800s first came that, that an ATI engineer said >100oC is when real damage is done to the x800's core. Not sure if that applies to 110nm cores though.
40-42C idle is quite normal for ATI cards, and around 60C at load. I'd start to worry 70C+
