Which card is better? Ti4400 or 9550 256mb

Just rebulding a second system for someone and he has to GFX cards he can use, a Ti 4400 128mb or a ATI 9550 256mb.

Which is the better card to go for? I have no idea, I know the ATI is newer than the Ti, but I'm not sure if it's more powerful or not.

    Cheers.

Hmm thats actually quite tough.. you might want to compare some benchmarks...

If the 9550 is similar to the performance of a 9500/9600, then I would get that - but if the 9550 is simply a slightly faster extension of the 9200 series with more capabilities or whatever, then get the Ti installed. Thats something you're going to have to check out unless somebody else enlightens us

The Geforce will be slightly faster but the Radeon is DirectX9 capable, so can show a few more flashy effects (but any game with high resolution and flashy DX9 effects will run like treacle...)

Therefore, either will do, however the ATI will probably have a better TV-out and will probably be a bit quieter...

The 9550 is a cut down version of the 9600, and so would be slower than the 9500.

9500's are faster than gf4 ti4400s in just about everything. I cant rememebr the spec of the 9550..

If your yet to buy the card have a look at retek as they have the 9500 for £23.50 which would beat both.

    Thanks for the help guys.

He already has both these cards from old systems and it's not gonna be used for gaming. So I have gone with the ATI as it should be quite low on noise.
