    DVI Stuffed?

Does anyone know any possible reason why my DVI input into the monitor doesn't seem to work anymore, it just suddenly stopped working one day when I turned it on. The analogue connection still works fine. The monitor is a Mitsubishi DV175 and the card a GeForce4 Ti4200.

My friend's GeForce 3 Ti200 did this with a Dell 15" DVI panel and no explanation. I'd say test it with a friend's monitor and replace the part if it's a big deal or do what my friend did and use the VGA connection. So it's worse quality but not *that* much worse and it costs nothing.

Have you checked to make sure the input select is set to dvi.

Just remembered reading your replys, I did test it with another monitor on DVI, and it didn't work however I was using the same cable as I only have one. But I doubt that it would be the cable. There's no input select either, you just plug the thing in a away it goes, at least that's what it used to do

Don't dismiss it being the cheapest part to replace! Get anoher cable just in case. Its a lot cheaper than another gfx card or monitor.

I'll have a look at the monitor selection, the thing hasn't really been going for a while, and I have been running comftably off the other input, but I was thinking of getting a new video card, and some now only have the DVI on them. I can't notice much difference except that I have to select how the picture fills the screen and I have noticed a few funny things happening which could be the signal.

Yes, you need to manually sync the screen with the signal on analogue, also, the quality is slightly worse and more prone to interference, it's the reason why everyone is moving towards DVI nowadays. With regards to new cards coming with 2 DVI connectors, they are normally the absolute top-end/workstation and not mainstream models.
