AAAARRGGHH! Broken 6800gt...need help!

Hi all. As you guessed im a n00b on this forum, but i know my stuff about computers ( before you ask)....or not. I did a stupid thing and tried to flash my BFG 6800gt oc pci-e graphics card with an ultra bios....bad idea . Now whenever i load up my pc i get a message from the nVidia sentinel saying that i have insufficient power for my graphics card....which i know it isnt as i have a tagan 480w psu.....more than good enough. The problem is that the card downclocks to snail speeds, 200 for the core and 600 for the memory. With these sort of speeds i might as well buy a £20 graphics card to play games as that is how games seem to run.....
I have tried flashing back to my original bios god knows how many times, reinstalled windows three times, tried nearly every compatible nvidia drivers available, swapped the card into the other pci-e slot, plugged in the other pci-e connecter........to no avail. I have tried erasing the eeprom and using a pci card to do this but it still happens. If anyone can help me to fix this problem then i would be eternally grateful as otherwise i will be left with a very expensive door stop.......cheers.

Is the power connector plugged in? Or is that what you meant when you said PCI-e connector?

I suppose theres the possibility that one of vrms got too hot and went kablooey. Try a visual inspection of traces from the connector, and also of the caps etc around the power circuitry.

try to give BFG a call or drop them an email... Im sure they'll have ways to fix that..

Yeah give BFG a call but don't tell them you flashed it As long as you have the correct matching BIOS revision as the one with the card you may be able to RMA! Good luck!!

I had a problem with a 5900 card about 6 months back. the card was faulty as I remember a bit of solder coming of the card. You need to get it RMA'd. Please note, Scan were great in returns process, as they no longer had the 5900, so they offered me a 6600GT in exchange, and all done with in 7 days.

Problem is not all retailers are as good as scan with their returns. Looks like you lucked out with the graphics card update you lucky git
