FEAR - dissapointed with x800xt pe performance

just downloaded the demo and its awesome, but a bit choppy at some points, anyone know of probable causes?
    i'd guess at
    1) early version of game, therefore not 100% optimized for all graphics cards?
    2) poor cooling (stock) on my gpu?
    3) cpu limited?

Its one of the games that really needs a 7800 card to shine, x800 aint gonna cut the mustard at 1280x1024 with Fear.

I found f.e.a.r ran fine on medium settings 1280x960 (Didn't seem to have 1280x1024) with P4 2.26 without problems

my X800pro (16pipes) ran on my vsync limit at 1280x1024 with most things on i think, no problems at all.

and my system is pretty much the same, except ive got a 3400 (2.4ghz stock)

EDIT: Actually yes it was only 1280x960, 1024 wasnt an option

1280x1024 is there, just hidden. If you've got a TFT, (DVI most probably) and set it to 1280x960 it automatically goes to 1280x1024 (as it did for me)

With my system specs it ran fine

Ran fine here, with 1280x1024 full details with full aa and as at about 59fps on a 3.2 Northwood and a 6800GT. Could be a crap install. Although I have noticed, if you don't defrag the drive before playing the game the performance drops, it likes a nice clean drive it seems.

I was also pleased with the performance of the demo with my X800XL. Especially with lower shadow settings. I think i maxed everything else in the end.

On the cooling side of things; just got this. Fantastic performance my core is like 10% overclocked now (used to hobble along stock) and it really is quiet. Highly recommended.

I can't get above a frame every few seconds .

I suppose the fact that I only have 512 MB ARM in ATM isn't helping. Just waiting on my ebuyer delivery for some more .

I was running at 40fps but did get some hitches. I think it was bugs in the demo though as pretty sure it should run fine on my setup
