    Unlocking a 6800

    Hi,

    have just bought a leadtek 6800 ( here )

i keep reading about people talking abotu unlocking them to get extra piplines etc.

whats the best software to do this, and is there any rick in leaving the card useless (BIOS flashes etc)

sorry if this has been asked before

    regards

    Many thanks for that.

is there a goo chance of unlocking all the pipe, and what sort of speed increase should it give me??

i'll assume that to take full advantage of the extra pipes i'll need to clock up my memory, would ramsinks help this or not?

    regards

if it cannot handle full pipes being unlocked, try unlocking less like 12 instead of 16. if that helps?

It will only give you the locked pipelines and vertex shaders, I dont think there is any increase in speed.. you mgiht get an extra few MHz out of it but remember, its not DDR3 utilisation its just DDR so you wont get anywhere near the speeds of GT/Ultra

so i'm better off just getting the memory running quicker rather than unlocking the pipes

The pipes unlocked will give you a good performance gain.

However you may have bad pipes so beware. Nvidia locked the pipes on some of those cards for a reason....

No, you're better off trying to unlock pipes & shaders & then, if that's successful, overclocking the core & memory. If some of the pipes cause artifacts or won't unlock then just overclock the core & memory.

Just download rivatuner & you can dit all with that program.
