I was wondering if LCD TVs were fine to use as computer monitors, because they are very cheap and are widescreen! Are there any problems with them ande the computer? Can you play games at normal resolutions with them

If you compare the figures of the model you have in mind with a comparable standard TFT then you should be able to see. Generally though LCD TVs run at lower resolutions than comparable PC Monitors, especially when you get larger. Smaller ones such as 17" are usually closer in spec, though you might want to check the response time (lower the better) and the brightless (the higher the ratio the better)

I bought a Relisys 17" widescreen lcd-tv with SCART and TV tuner etc. I wasn't planning on using it primarily as a monitor because it had no DVI, but I actually found picture quality to be fine :)
Its growing in popularity I have seen, just make sure you get one with around 1280x1024 resolution sort of thing, nothing ridiculously small like 800x600
Well, its in woolworths, so I will check it out tommorow :) and will check teh resolution out!
I would have gone down that route, but at the time when I looked at replacing my quality 19" CRT with a tft, they were too expensive, so I bought a 17" LG (l1715s) which has suited me perfectly. I already had a TV card in my pc, and a surround sound set to cope with the sound, so it was more novelty than anything.

Looking at getting a Widescreen Samsung 32" LE-32R41BDX which runs at 1366x768, primary use will be as a television but also would like to use for games. Has anyone tried running games on large screen LCD's? I'm assuming if they are fine for video they will be fine also for games.
Games on TV-style screens usually look nice due to their sort of built in anti alaising thing (but no where near as good as AA). But you can never see small writing and details if you run the resolution too high on a TV.
Not tried on LCDs but have tried on my 42" Plasma (Panasonic TH42PWD6 connected via DVI).
The refresh is slightly noticable if you look close, I presume LCDs will fare better.
Not too worried about small text, mainly just use for stuff like Unreal Tournament or Half Life. Not having much experience with newer graphic cards does it make a huge difference whether the connection is made using a VGA D-SUB or DVI?
If you are gonna be buying the smasung then buy the LEXXR51B/d/x, and use the VGA and on this particular model vga is as good as dvi on computer monitors. Trust me i have tried it.
Make sure ur games have wide screen res otherwise theyy look streched
You'll find most LCD TVs with the PC inputs (don't try and use an RCA or S-Video one!) will have a 1280 x 768 (16:10) resolution for the widescreen models and it's pretty much the same across the entire range from the 17" ones up to the 32"s. Sometimes they have that strange resolution of 1366 x 768 (16:9) but I've never actually seen it myself, nor if a PC graphics card supports it.

speedy_s the model i've researched was the LE32R41BDX, does the LE32R51BDX have any benefits over the 41 Model? I have had a look through http://www.avforums.com/ and haven't been able to find any definitive answers.
