    which tft?

well, I've decided I need to get a new monitor for my computer, a tft to be precise. now that Ive got lots of pictures (and those around here who know me, know I like to take lots and all the rest of it) the currect crt just can't handle them, its old and rather dark and to get a decent picture you need contrast right up but then its stupid. there are a few on special at scan this w/e so think I might take the oppo. now and get one, thing is I can't make up my mind!
there's the LG 1750H (slim edge, nice looking £196), the Sony SDM-HS75B Black (stylish stuff from sony £163) and the Neovo E17 Gold Edition (similar to the sony £176) that are about right. the last two have interated speakers which I don't really care for and are Dsub whilst the LG is DVI (my gfx card has 2 dvi sockets so I suppost it makes sense going that way...). my bro has had an LG for several years and its great but its dsub (think its equal to the one sold for £140 currently). just wondering if anyone has has experience with any of these?

With all your photography stuff, might you not be better off with a larger monitor, perhaps 20", to give you more workspace? I know that when I am butchering pictures I always feel I need more space!

yeah well, 19's out there are no higher in res than 17's and going up in res with screen size = ££££, and only one company I know does them; dell. but apparently they are very good.

I would say a 19", I have a 17" and it seems quite small now.

I will be buying a 20" hopefully soon.

I've got a Hyundia Imagequest L90D and the image quality is great - much better than my crappy 19" crt. I would def try for a 19", makes life so much easier for photoshop work. You can pick up a 19" for about £200 as well, thogh I can't comment on the quality.

Give Komplett a look, they had what looked like good ones when I last checked & then look for some online reviews..

As reagards size, I think 17" is fine. I used to feel usatisfied without a 19", but that was on a CRT and since TFT's dont include the surround in the inches, as CRT's do, a 15" may be a tad small but a 17" is fine.

But I think this is going off the the original posters question . Sadly I don't have alot of tft experience, looking at getting one my self.

we have a 17" Hyundai ImageQuest Q17 at home, and while its ok, i prefer my 19" CRT (samsung 95P plus)
    - Its sort of grainier, and less homly then the CRT, and about an inch smaller, which you notice stright away!

    - Although im not planning to get tft for uni, and i can justify the spave for the huge crt, which i will keep as at home.
