Any Good?

Is the Graphics Card any good? It is within my price range and i will use it to play games:

256MB Gigabyte NX66256D-P-Geforce6600, 450/500MHz, PCIEx16, 8xPipeline, DirectX9.0c, DVI, SilentPipe

Well I can't find a review on it, but since its a normal 6600 it isn't actually that fast. Try and get a X800 GT, GTO or 6600 GT, even if it means saving up for one more week.

This is assuming you have a PCI-E compatible motherboard?

256Mb on that thing is the usual con tbh. Stick more RAM on the thing and most people assume its good. But that rams wasted because the video card will most likely not have the power to run at anywhere near a decent frame rate in resolutions high enough to use that much memory for textures.

See if you can get a 6600GT, a 128Mb 6600GT would be far better then a 256Mb 6600. Different world in fact.

What about this one guys:

Would this one be better over all, faster and able to play all games, even the new quake 4? Needs to be a silent card as i have a very quiet system. Ta

Yea thats faster, as far as I know, but if you want to play Quake 4 nicely you should ideally get a high end card, like the 6800GT, X850XT, 7800GT etc.

Not fussy about overclocking. Just want a decent card for a decent price.

i would say it performs near a X800 PRO, so it's good. For around 20 bucks more you can grab a GTO2 anyway.

Overclocking should appeal though to those who are on a tighter budget

You really should be fussy about overclocking if you want to play any of the best looking current games or anything good looking after Quake4, cos you're going to need all the graphical power you can get on your budget, and overclocking can get you a serious boost.

If you don't want to play all the latest games and you won't want to a standard X800 would do you nicely. But if you do want to play the latest ones at any sort of playable resolution then you want the best card you can afford.

A 6600GT is really your best bet here. I wouldn't get anything less for new games. You should be able to get one for £130 new, or probably around £90 or less second hand. They also often overclock fairly well. That is the card to aim for.

If you cant get it, then the X800GTO or GTO2 would probably be the options to aim for, but Im assuming they cost less then £130 here. If they don't, 6600GT is for you.

So, the 6600GT is the best at my price range then?

I would say so. It's a very good card for the money, better then any of the previous generation ones.
