    Is my 6800gt dead ?

Was hoping the forum could help me out. Was playing on my older pc last night that has a 6800gt and started getting artifacts and the screen would lock for 1 min then start again thought this was strange as the game was a couple of years old not exactly pushing the boundry. Exited the game to check the g/c temp and it was only 50 so started the game again. then after 1 min in game the whole screen was covered with artifacts and wouldnt respond , reset the pc and got a screen full on the window desktop . Reset again and now everything boots up as normal but the monitor isnt recieving any picture just stays blank ? Has the graphics card died ? cheers for any help

It sounds very much like it to me, I'm afraid. How do you know it is booting as normal if there is no display? If there were an OS, cpu or motherboard problem, it might be displaying an error and you can't see it. If you have another card you can use, put it in and see it it works. It may be worth opening up the case and just making sure the card is properly seated in it's socket, and that nothing is obviously fouling up.

Wanted to put in another card but the gt is in a water cool loop so its a pain in the arse to do . Think it is booting as usual as the pc seems exactly as normal when i turn it on but with no picture .

it's possibly a power issue - you could try using a higher watt decent PSU in the system - if it corrects the problem then you're away, no promises but it is a option...

clear ur CMOS.. and boot again.. I had this issue when i clocked my A400GT passed 440MHz and 1200MHz DDR3... cleared the CMOS and its fine, but you would have to revert all ur settings back to default in safe mode..
    Me want Ultrabook
