    Cooling a 9800pro - Zelman any good?

    Alright,

I'm sorting out some cooling for my 9800pro, I'm thinking of the Zalman ZM80C-HP Silent VGA Heatpipe Cooler, with a Zalman ZM-OP1 Optional Fan Package, for £34 the pair. Items 17 and 18 on the following page - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...oolers_57.html

    Good choice?

Also going to pick up some Arctic Silver III Thermal Compound, an exhaust blower, some rounded IDE cables and a few basic fans for air flow.

Anyway, is the Zelman a good choice for my card?

With the fan package it should do a good job.

imo its not worth the money!

i had a zalman hp-80a cooler, it was hot even with a fan though i could overclock quite far, but the vantec iceberq is just as quiet, if not quieter and is cheaper, and is good enuf for cooling all gfx cards atm... im using one on my 9700np atm

I've got a Zalman heatpipe on my Gainward GeForce 4 Ti4600, which I believe generates just as much heat as a Radeon 9800 Pro.

No fan at all on it and I still get pretty decent overclocks (330/720).

It was a bitch to install though. Certainly not made for clumsy people like myself.

afaik gf4's make less than 50W of heat, whereas the 9800pro makes 63W, and the fx5900u makes 70 something W (above OEM specs for gfx card heat).

it is a bitch to install, also a bitch to have in pc when eva ur doing anything, and it looks rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe aswell, not really worth vioding the warrenty on ur £300 card for imo, get a cheaper replacement

The zalman is a quality cooler but I would be tempted to try the vantec just to be different
