    BFG graphics cards

Just read a post further down and it says that the BFG 7800gt is available for £220 ish. Are they any good? by that i mean reliable and stable and not likley to go bang after a few weeks usage - the price is very low so whats the catch? . Or would i be best off just finding a normal 7800gt wich might last a bit longer? What are they like soundwise? cheers

Very, just about all 7800GT's oc like a bitch.

They have a lifetime warranty, so if it does go bang it will be replaced... I think OcUK just got a very good deal on them at the right time when the pound was strong(er).

Define normal? It comes pre overclocked, which is under warranty.

The downside is the cooler is annoying as hell, it's not mega noisy but the sustained noise drives me insane although it does speed up/slow down... That's why i just bought an arctic silencer for 16 quid which means i'll sleep better at night

All in all it's a very, very good card/buy and even though the price has went up (i got mine for £211 last wed) it's still a steal.

AActually they are selling them for £223.19 which is still a bargain.

Got my arctic silencer today and it fits fine (rev.2), so if you can't get a hold of the rev.3 and you have a 7800GT be rest assured that it will fit!

The BFG comes stock at 425/1050, even without the silencer it ran 460/1150 although at a more toasty temperature and annoying sound level.

Very good card for the money.

Ive never had to use an Artic Silencer are they a must have then? does it really drop the sound levels down at all? or is it just good for reducing temperatues of the card? Should probably have made a new thread o well

    Permanently confused

Well the 7800GT stock cooling is noisy, the fan is variable but it's not quiet. The arctic silencer or any good aftermarket cooling reduces the noise level and the temperature.

I also got a BFG 7800GT OC last week from OCUK, i paid £223 for mine. I thought the same "cheap, whats the catch?" But they are really really good cards. I have got mine water cooled and have got zalman ramsinks on the memory. The thing overclocks like a beast i got mine totally stable at 495mhz Core (Could go 500mhz) and 1.20Ghz Memory temp is 31 idel havent looked at load yet, but should be pretty cool.

My advise is don't think about it so much and just buy one before they sell out

Very good cards and a good price, just got mine installed yesterday. Come pre overclocked with a lifetime warrenty if you dont want to fiddle yourself. Got mine stable at 490mhz core and 1170mhz ram
