Diamondtron vs. Trinitron

Thinking about getting a big arse 21" monitor of ebay and just wondering which one to go for really.

Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 230SB which is a diamondtron.
or
Sony Multiscan G500/dell p1110 which is a trinitron.

Whats the difference between a trinitron and a diamondtron and which is better to go for?
Any other 21" monitors i should be looking for? Needs to run 1280x1024 at at least 85hz (100hz preferably) as its going to be used primarily for gaming.

The Diamond tron monitor is a nice one to use, so is the dell, tbh not much of a difference but the Mitsubishi is the one I would go for. Few friends with the sony/dell models and they die out in a few years the mits are still going strong. Luck of the draw really. Got for the cheaper one of the two. Both are killer monitors.

Trinitrons are supposed to be slightly sharper but there's not supposed to be a lot of difference between them.


I've had a 19" Sony Multiscan for over 5 years now and am very happy with it.

My 19" Trinitron lasted about 7 years. It was one of the earlier one.

Shouldn't be that much of a difference to be honest.
