Help needed choosing new gaming system!

Hi - I hope someone could advise me on the which gaming format pc to get! I'm looking at a relative high end system, along the lines of:

AMD 64 4400
2GB Mem
250GB HD

However, I cant decide whether to get two 7800GT cards or a single 7800GTX! I've already got TFT etc just need a base unit.

Could anyone advise me which would be the fastest system - I was thinking on a single GTX and adding a second in 12 months when the price has fallen. Budget is £1400 approx. Also, if anyone knows a good company that lets you configure online?

From what I have seen, the "standard" overclocked 7800GT (that is to say the ones that come from the manufacturers already running faster than standard units) seem to run at 90-95% the speed of the GTX cards.

I would go with two 7800GT's if you can afford it (sweet set up btw) but if the price is quite marginally larger than a single GTX then I would get a GTX myself. How much RAM are you getting?
