    7800gt fan speeds

    Wonder if someone can help.
ive just (as in half an hour ago) recived a inno3d 7800gt card
maybe its just me being out of touch with modern machines (coming from a zalman heatpipe cooled 9700pro) but this thing is fecking loud!

the card is the std nvidia reference design, is the fan suppost to speed up/slow down at all? my bro has a 5900 ultra that would startup on full pelt, then slow down during bootup? should this be the case here too?

Have you looked in the nvidia control centre?

If not try expertool from Gainward, worked wonders on my old 6600gt and 6800gt:

    Now this is strange..
    Rivatuner doesnt have any effect.

BUT when i first rebooted after installing the latest forceware drivers, the fan slowed down.. but now it doesnt change at all

    *update*

seems that its a common problem... http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=780...utf-8&oe=utf-8

The fan on my BFG 7800GT is very noisy during boot and for a few minutes after logging on. However, it quietens down a lot very quickly but is still the noisiest fan in my system by a long way.

I'm looking out for third party HSF's for the 7800GT.

Try installing rivatuner... if that doesnt work, install coolbits 2 as well... it worked for me
