I read a few months back that Nvidia were beginning production of cards with HDMI ports and now Sony USA have launched a new VAIO MCE desktop with a HDMI equipped Nvidia 6200 installed... but I've not found any manufacturer selling these cards - anyone know where or when these will be available?
Probably be just as easy to buy a DVI to HDMI converter ?.
It seems like a few of the latest cards now have support for HDCP (Fatboy40 spits a big greenie on HDCP).
Just get a converter or a DVI -> HDMI cable.
I beleive that HDCP can be used over HDMI and DVI.
There's where the problem lies... my new 32" LCD only has HDMI and posts on other forums are reporting problems with DVI > HDMI on this set.
My only hope is a true HDMI > HDMI setup will not have any issues.
HDMI is based on DVI and is 100% downwards compatible to DVI, which means that DVI-signals (via DVI-HDMI-adaptor-cable) can be transferred via HDMI-interface. However, in the other direction only a subset of the HDMI-signals is transferred to the DVI-interface. Both are compatible because HDMI uses the same copy protection procedure as DVI: HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection).
So don't know why a DVI>HDMI cable is going to give your LCD an issue.
btw ATi's 9700pro had HDCP support via DVI - so all gfx card manufacturers cards should now support this horrible and un-necessary protection.
