A more balanced look at the X1800XT..

    http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=ODc1LDEx

I found this one far more informative - it talks about heat, noise and 'real world' performance (rather than timedemos) and seemed to stay pretty neutral (neither pro-nvidia or pro-ati) - than most of the 'reviews' of the new ATI architecture. I got the feeling that overall they felt that the cards are pretty evenly matched, and user preference will determine which way to go. I definitely think ATI's new architecture will be a lot more interesting next year when they add some more pipelines and (hopefully) ship against the G71 from nVidia.

Awesome review. Sadly the X1800XT already looks like it will be beaten by the new 512mb GTXm looking at the clocks of it.

besides, X1800XL isn't that hot to begin with.. a 70£ cheaper 7800GT is enough to beat it up good..

Going back, yes.. X1800XT IS indeed vapourware, and its really not taht much faster compared to a vanilla 7800GTX.. I was really expecting better, I mean.. they are literally 6 months late..

And 7800GTX 512MB is coming out soon will sure bring up some debate on how X1800XTs reputation is going to play out. And honestly, I dont think they're going to be THAT ultra expensive; them 512MB GTX.. they'll probably deflate the prices for their entire lineup inc of the 6800GS to bring in the 512MB GTX..
    Me want Ultrabook

No, not at all. ATI's card is on paper, as usual, thats it. There are already reports of very limited supplies, it's the X800XT PE fiasco all over again, and i know all about that because i got one, somehow early.

The 256GTX has been out for months and months, and now Nvidia are coming out with a 512mb Version, before the X1800XT is even out. Haha.

Neither the X1800XT or the 512mb 7800gtx can be bought now. If the 512mb 7800gtx beats the XT to the stores.. well.. ouch, that's going to hurt ATI's image big time.
