    Why cant i get 1280x1024 resolution with FEAR?

    I have:

    XFX 7800 GTX extreme gamers edition
    AMD64 4000
    1GB Corsair XMS
    600W TAGAN PSU
    etc etc

    I only get an option to render the game in 1024x768 & as my monitor runs best at 1280x1024 - i am a little miffed that i cant up the resolution. This is the only game that i experience this problem.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Find the Settings.cfg file and then edit the following ;

    "ScreenWidth" "1280"

    "ScreenHeight" "1024"

    Save and reload and voila - a 1/2 decent resolution rather than 1024 x 768

    Yeh but 1024x768 looks terrible if you have a 17/19" TFT, seems crazy they keep making games that dont have a proper 1280x1024 mode.

    True, but why would you buy a 1280x TFT if you didn't have a good gfx card? Ok I'm being annoying, it's only games like FEAR that need you to drop spec if you got something halfway decent. I'm still on the 5700 but I'm also still using a CRT. But you're right, they should support it more easily in games in terms of setup.

    Thanks chaps - I think you are right though, why isn't the option there? It isn't as if my system cant handle it.... and as you say, there are a lot of users that have monitors with a native resolution of 1280x1024.

    Thanks again

    Its same wit BF2, which doesnt have 1280x1024 despite the EA testing lab being kitted out with TFTs, but then we know EA dont test games before releasing them
