Have you got HD / EAX audio turned on it all? I had stuttering until I turned off the bonus sound features and it went away.

No, I dont' believe any of that is turned on, and I have the latest version of Forceware that there is. I tried FarCry this weekend, and it runs with everything on high. It's JUST Battlefield 2. I'm probably just going to give up I guess and not play as much or at all. How sad!

The 90 points difference in 3d Mark will be down to either:

    1. Memory timings - These can/will be losened the more RAM you put in normally. Small difference for benching and the thing 3DM05 wont show you is where you get better performance by having more RAM as opposed to faster timings.

    2. Random variance - I have never had the same score twice on 3DMark.

As for the BF2 issues - Very odd. Are you sure it isn't perception? I know plenty of people that swear their system isn't running as well at their favorite game the moment you mention that anything has changed or they download a MS secuirty patch etc?

DEFINITELY not perception. I even put the 9800 Pro back in to see, and it ran so very much smoother than with the 6600GT (in those select spots, as I pointed out before, such as in the oil cisterns in the middle of Daqing Oilfields). The 9800's 3DMark scores were lower (I ran the tests as long as I had the card back in), and that was to be expected.

The 6600GT's performance in those areas is not even just laggy, I'd call it flat out choppy. The kind of thing where I go to turn maybe 30 degrees, and the next thing I know, I'm facing a wall and have turned 180 degrees (I got to see like 3 frames of the turn), and someone shoots me, and I'm dead.

I should point out that I made the foolish mistake of purchasing Special Forces for BF2, and it runs questionable on that, also. One map is so choppy I can't even play it (can't remember the name, but there's a complex at one end of it with a giant wall surrounding it). The minimum videocard specs have been pumped up for SF, also, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
