Cheap AGP card MCE compatible. ATI 9250 or nVidia FX5200 ?
I'm after a cheap GPU for an MCE machine I'm building. It's to go on my nforce2 mobo, so needs to be AGP. In the end, I'll upgrade that PC to a S939 with PCIe, but until then, need a cheapy to get me going :)
I was hoping to recycle my trusty old Geforce 4 Ti 4400, but it there isn't proper MCE driver support for it and when I load up MCE and try to play back video, I get a very black picture :(
Looking at Scan's website, I could pick up a Gigabyte 128MB Geforce FX5200
Alternatively, for similar money, I could get a ATI-based Radeon 9250.
I also would prefer passively cooled, VGA, DVI and TV out, hence the choice of the two products above.
However, I'm not convinced the 9250 has proper driver support for MCE. ATI's website (http://www.ati.com/buy/promotions/mcesolutions/) doesn't explicitly mention MCE compatibility for the 9250 chipset - only the 9550 and up.
So, what do you guys think? Anyone running MCE with a 9250 or a FX5200 for that matter?
I'm not too interested in 3D performance of course, but I guess the 5200 is quicker than the 9250?
Cheers :)
