    Useful little chart from Toms

Useful for seeing if an upgrade is worth it or not:

Edit: Fixed link, from http://graphics.tomshardware.com/gra...202/index.html right at the end

    nearly 20% -> X850XTPE to 6800 ultra ???

think its a little off TBH, verging on exaggeration.

Indeed mate, it's complete horse**** as usual from Toms.

A X850XT PE is easily the fastest AGP card you buy, a they say a 6800Ultra is 20% better?

LOl they also seem to think a 7800GT, SLI 6600GT and a 7800GTX is better than a X1800XT. The only card better than a X1800XT is the 512mb GTX and SLI GTX's.

The 37% extra a 6800 Ultra gives over my X800XL wasn't what I read in Custom PC magazine either...

Yep, lol it's so wrong, toms should be shut down.

According to them a X1800XT to a 7800GT is an upgrade. Guess ill go and grab a GT now.

    GT vs GTX Extreme

Maybe I am missing something here but....

It says that if you move to a 7800 GTX Extreme from a 7800 GT then the percentage gain is 0%.

However, if you look at the move from a 6800 (compare GT and GTX) it states there is a nearly 100 point difference. Someone got their numbers wrong - i'd get my ass kicked in the office if I did that.

Nice attempt at providing a useful chart though.

I'm pretty sure those percentages in that chart were based on 3D Mark Scores. Its the only reasonable explanation.

3dmark scores would be better suited to ATI dunt u think? X850XTPEs do 6k in 3dmrk05 while the 6800 Ultra will do at best 5.5k...

I would still assume that they put them price into consideration.

EDIT: Glad to know that 6800GT = X1800XL lol!

As stated complete tripe, a X800XT to a 6800GT is an upgrade? and a 6800Ultra gives a huge performance increase, lets wake up shall we. The difference would be virtually nothing possibly even biased towards the X800XT.

Glad to see toms is as reliable as it ever was though.

Nice post Nox - graphically shows what we all know

x800gto (unlock pipes), 6800gs and 7800gt are best bang for buck. imho.

I used to like THG for their AGP gfx charts as they were sensible, but this one is a pile of poo.

That Inq piece is quite interesting, though doesn't reveal any surprises. Would be nice to see similar comparisons for some of the more popular game benchmarks (HL2, BF2, Doom 3 etc...) and see how they compare in a more realworld setting.

    As for THG's table..............
