When u throw in the Ultra, Im assuming its Nv 6 series..
Performance wise, its pretty simple..
6800Ultra > 6800GT ~ 6800GS >>> 6800XT.
6800GT runs better at high res than a 12 pp variant GS.
6800GT also clocks to 6800Ultra very easily ,(425/1150) is easy peasy.
6800GS clocks scales very well.. and thanks to its .11 manuf.. they clock very very high. 530/1250 is a norm.. this then translate to almost 6800Ultra speeds at lower res but still drops out at higher res due to its skimp pipes.
Yeah, was the 6800 series. Sorry about that.Quote:

Thanks for that
so which would you recommend? I'll be running at high res so maybe a GT?
Gt then clock to ultra i guess
GT wont handle most high res today tbh.. it will run faster than GS, but whats the use if both were also around 20s? u cud get like 18fps on GS but 25fps on the GT. But if ur running older 1 year old games like DOOM3 etc.. the GT is a good buy esp when second handed. I saw some going for £130 or less...
Any specific brand I should be looking for?
I've got a Hercules AIW 9800SE @ 9800 at the mo you see
EDIT: One of the silent ones if possible, you know, with the huge heatsinks
if u can get leadtek's offering for the GT then thats the best.. it comes with a dual slot copper heatpipe cooler and a near silent fan even at max rotation. They run as cool as AC NV Silencers and just a tad hotter than them Zalman VF700-Cu.
They're hard to come by nowadays, but if u can find one at bargain price then they're a good buy. I personally run 2 of them in 2 rigs and both clocks to 420/1170. One of them even hit 450/1200 without volt mod.
Are they the winfast ones? Am I able to run them in SLI mode?
Since ur upgrading from a 9800Pro.. I would assume its an AGP board. Then no..
Leadtek's AGP GT offering's called A400GT
Their PCI-E offering's called PX6800GT
I have AGP at the mo, yeah, but I'm upgrading my mobo and CPU too.
Are the SLI kits at http://www.lowestonweb.com/Products/...FC6F3ABD3&td=1 good value?
I've got a motherboard chosen for sure. The ECS KN1 SLI Extreme. Shame SCAN don't sell it and have no plans to.
As for the SLI graphics card thing...I'm after a quiet setup (I'm going to get the Vapochill Micro Ultra Low Noise cooler) so would I be better off getting a couple of 6600GS/GT silent cards then the 6800 GTs?
