nVidia does not go into the formula they make the chipset (7800) in this case and sell it to manufacturer who sells it to the consumers, US.

EVGA and BFG usually offer life time warranties (like Corsair do with RAM)
    XfX usually offer 2 years.

Of course read the small print before you buy....

BTW, each company may also choose to sell a stock speed of the cards but some may sell a pre overclocked one. (If I am right the 7800 stock speeds are 400Mhz Core and 1000Mhz memory.)

Hope that clears up a lot.
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

Also depends on how much you want to spend etc as this determines which type of card 7800 7800gt etc. I think the more popular choice (open to debate) would be an XFX card. even though there is only a 2 yr warranty on this XFX card (quote workaholic above)IMO not many people keep a card longer than 2 years anyway.

evga's 7800gt from Scan comes with a 2 year warrenty not lifetime, I think thats only for usa residents; as is the copy of Battel Field 2 .

Just buy the cheapest one, they'll all be the same underneath that stiker on the fan! Just use coolbits to find the optimum clock frequencies for your card.

I must admit that I've never had a video card long enough to bother worrying about the warrantee. Despite my best intentions, I've always ended up replacing them with a newer model within 18 months!

Can't fault XFX though.... Had several over the years (from FX5200 > 6800GT) and never a problem.

    Corsair Air 540, Asus Prime X570-Pro, Win 10 Pro, AMD R9 3900X, Corsair HX 750, EVGA 1080 Ti, 2x Corsair 2TB MP600, 2x 2TB WD20EZRX, 4x8GB Corsair Dominator, custom watercooled (single loop, 2 rads)
    Corsair 550D, Asus X470-Prime Pro, Win 10 Pro, AMD R7 2700, Corsair RM750i, Asus GTX780 Poseidon, 2x Sammy 500GB 970 EVO, 2x 2TB Seagate Barracuda, 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance, custom watercooled (single loop, 2 rads)
    Synology DS918+ w/ 2xWDC Green 3TB + 2x Seagate Barracuda 6TB, N2200 w/ 2xSammy 1.5TB
    backup:
    Corsair 500R, Gigabyte GA-Z97MX Gaming 5, Win 10 Pro, i5 4690, Corsair HX750i, Sapphire Fury X, 256GB Sammy SM951 M.2 (System), WD SE16 640GB, 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance, Corsair H100i

Originaly posted br Clunk: I cant comment on the other two brands, but i can suggest you avoid the xfx one for the moment mate, the xfx line is that there is nothing wrong, but their own forums say otherwise. the ones that are in stock at scan are the "E" models and they have a number of problems with the fans. they also have a 4 pin molex connector instead of the pci-e connector.

Get the cheapest branded card, and avoid the 7800gt with added letterage(extreme and various other nonsensical terms)

    Rhyth beat me to it

just so you know, you can find out all about the ill fated "E" model of xfx's 7800 gt extreme by nipping over to their forums. theres a lot of miffed customers there, and im one of them (well, was, and never again), heres the link.

    http://www.xfxforce.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=28

by the way, scan were great about it and offered a refund or discount off a more expensive model. im just waiting for my credit coming through and then im going for an evga + nv silencer 5 rev 3.

earlier in this thread someone said that xfx have a 2 year warranty, well i think they changed it to a double lifetime warranty, but i have a feeling that this refers to the time it takes for them to acknowlege there is a problem.

XFX seem to have had a bunch of problems at the moment - they botched up the 6800gs extreme edition too (put standard ones in extreme boxes). Maybe a rival slipped a monkey into the chain somewhere

Is the 4 pin molex connector on the GTX aswell or just the GT ? Had a look through the XFX forums and couldn't find any comments about there being a 4 pin molex on the GTX but just wanting to clear it up before I purchase one.

They seem to only have problems with the 6800gs and the 7800gt.
