SLI and V-Sync

Added my second 7800GT last night and hit a major problem.....

I cannot get v-sync to work when SLI is enabled.......and I am running the 81.98 drivers that actually say "Added support for VSync on Direct3D games when running NVIDIA SLI"

Last night I had a long session on World of Warcraft and the visual tearing was aweful (I cannot stand it), so much so that I will probably go back to a single card if I cannot fix this.

Has anyone else hit this problem? anyone solved it?

WoW isn't D3D - not sure if there's an opengl support for vsync yet.

It requires a hardware T&L gfx card and DirectX 9c........

WoW does do OpenGL but defaults to D3D (which mine is).

Problem is, its written so badly that SLI does not work with it. The BEST it can do is the same performance you had with 1 gfx card and the consensus seems to be to edit the WoW profile in nVidia properties and force it to use a single gfx card.

What a complete waste of 250 quid.....

Huh? Wow works fine with SLI, most people get a decent performance boost with two cards in.

Not sure if you can force ogl or d3d mode, I have no idea which mine uses as they look pretty similar.

I have done a lot of research....check widescreen gaming forums, nvidia forums, hardOCP forums, WoW forums....

WoW will not give a performance boost with SLI. In fact in most cases it actually gives a performance decrease, plus visual side-effects.

Pretty annoyed at nVidia now as they still have it listed as an SLI game.

Where did you get your info on "Wow works fine with SLI, most people get a decent performance boost with two cards in"??

I am intreeged to speak to these people and see what driver versions and wow settings they have, as even Blizzard tech have now told me - "SLI = no no".
