Currently running a Radeon 9800XT and looking to upgrade to something a little swifter, with the added ability of turning my pc into a bit of a media center, capturing TV etc.
I saw a couple on Ebuyer for approaching £200 which is more than I'd like to spend. Anyone suggest any alternatives that might cost a little less?
Sub £200 card? Hmn... If I'm like everyone else.. I would recommend stretching for a £200 7800GT or a PixelView variant for $190 at Misco
BUt then if ur talking about £150ish.. u cant miss an XFX 6800GS XXX Edition (corny name.. I know)
Great cards, but it's mainly the ability to record tv etc. that I'm looking for, otherwise I'd just have searched the forum for 'which card?' threads...unless I'm missing something and they have some undocumented abilities I failed to spot?
You might be able to find a 1600XT AIW at some point for that price but I don't think it exists yet, nor do I expect it would be AGP.
Otherwise you have to drop down to the X800GT AIW, which has some performance advantage over the 9800 but not a staggering amount.
Microdirect has an X800VE AIW, but I have no idea what the specification of the VE is, having never heard of it before.
