    MON, you've been told.

IMO the small difference in drivers/support between ATi and nVidia cards should not warrant a differing choice.
What's your budget? The 7800 can be found cheaper and cheaper every day, it seems...

For a start, turn of ****ing Caps lock.

You sound like you have been living in a cave for the last 3 years. ATI drivers are just as good as Nvidia's, id personally say they are better. You get a new release every month.

The X1800XT is a faster card than the 256mb in any game, apart from Black And white 2, somet wierd with that game. Once you start to add AA/AF the X1800XT gets even bigger lead, and it has double the memory. it's not even a contest.

The price of the X1800XT is dropping all the time, id give it a week or to, just to see if the prices fall any more.

The x1800xt is a faster card than the 7800gtx in the majority of games and cope a bit better with AA/AF. The drivers are equal in my opinion, ie there is adequate support for both cards from their manufacturers.

Therefore it is really a question of budget. Find the cheapest price for both cards and evaluate extra cost v performance gain. Remember what resolution you want to run at and the level of AA/AF.

If the prices are the same I would go for the x1800xt. Either way you shouldn't be dissapointed, they are both fast cards capable of running all current games well.

The only thing going for the GTX is the price, scan seem to sell them really cheap. But X1800XT's are going for around 300quid, id really spend the little bit extra myself, unless your a lame ass fanboy.

If caps lock is stuck on then hold down shift (or stick something on the shift key) when you type and it'll come out lower case

    'ouch' to that man...

The X1800XT would be a much better buy, double the framebuffer, better performance and only 50 quid more..

7800GTX 256MB is a little slow in comparison.. and the 512MB variant is way wayyy too expensive..

But I guess both cards should be super, unless you're those picky benchers or advent FEAR player who wants everything on at 1600x1200
    Me want Ultrabook
