ok, got around 300(ish to spend)

    i'm thinking either

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=46590

    or

    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?a...rpID=4&cks=PRL Samsung 17" LCD Syncmaster 172V TCO99
Screen Silver (UK) (you may need to search for it)

Which one do you guys think? or is there a better 1 for around same price?

**EDIT** Also found this 16ms one

Komplett don't work with direct links to their products so you'll need to supply us with a SKU code or more info on the product. The IIyama from Ebuyer is a very well respected name (unlike the store that sells it) so is a good start. Most important things for a TFT is pixel refresh rate (ideally 20ms or less) and native res (that's what you'll really be limited to for Windows and games). Other than that check that it's 24bit colour (not 16bit) and that brightness and contrast are as high as possible.

both response times seem to be .25, that ok for gaming?

Generally 20ms or lower (which is the same BTW) is what you ideally want for movies and games. As with things like the refresh rate on CRT monitors it comes down to personal perception and preference. Best to check out a high street store where you can judge the diff in the flesh.

PS. Rem it's pixel refresh rate (or response time) not dot pitch.

asked exactly the same question two months ago, haven't regretted grabbing a lg1710B...

...but it did feel like a downgrade from my 19" FST. The picture quality isn't quite the same, and it never feels quite as smooth.

No ghosting and fab for dvds though.

Aria have the Hercules Prophetview 920 (20ms response) on "deal for today" at £292.
    I would get that.

I would recommend the Hitachi CML174SXW. 16ms refresh + DVI.
    Brilliant image quality.

I got mine from NexNix (http://shop.nexnix.co.uk/NexNix_Onli...tachi__48.html) and had no problems (you can also pay for a "pixel check" before it is shipped which is a good idea considering how much cash you're shelling out).

    £334 inc vat.

    cheers,
    dave

Here is the Hitatchi monitor, with a link to all dealers, so you can price-check. I'm gonna get a CML174SXWB, so if you do, make sure to let us know!
