Weird 6800GT Temperature/Clock speed issues.

SO my card has been freezing up, some variable length of time after going into 3D mode for a while now, and playing about with rivatuner it appears to be because it drops from 400Mhz (an overclock i know, but its a golden sample and therefore rated for it) back down to 350. Its not temperature based, although it does always happen at 78 degrees, the slowdown temp is set to 120. It also works fine at those temps at anything up to around 395mhz.

I know im splitting hairs for 5mhz, but considering its been running 80 slower than i thought for nearly a year i want to try something.

Anyone got any suggestions?

try a better cooler

Drivers are always something to try.

Properly remove drivers and install new ones. Also check out your chipset drivers.

Done that too, the problem also persits over reinstalls. At the moment im on the hunt for a new bios.

Dropping to 350mhz would barely be noticable in a game, let alone causing anything to freeze. Are you sure the drop isn't just the switch to 2d mode?

Try setting both 2d and 3d modes to the same speed.

What power do you have? That's the only thing I can think that would prevent you eeking that little bit more out.

If there both at the same speed then there isnt an issue. Its if theyre at different speeds the problem presents itself, and apparently on if the clock speed hasnt been set after rebooting (i mean moved then set, rather than just set automatically with coolbits). As it worked fine at 420 yesterday after doing that. Ill post some screenies of the rivatuner graphs later.
