    ATi 850XT AGP

What do you guys think of the ati X850XT 256MB AGP? would it be significanlty faster (noticably) than a grforce 6800(standard). Since moving to a dell 2005 and with the higher ress i've had to tunr off AA etc for the framerates to stay above 30fps. would the x850xt help? is it worth the money? i'm not thinking of going pci x just yet (maybe 12 months time)

    Cheers

While a X850XT would be a fair bit faster, it might be limited by the rest of your computer - what's the spec like? i.e. RAM, CPU, etc.

A X850XT AGP will cost you around £200, having a quick look at OCUK.

Whats your CPU? Because you could get a PCI-E board (Asus A8N-E NF Ultra for example) and a PCI-E X850XT for not much more, if you had a compatile CPU.

    AGP X850XT- £200

    PCI-E mobo- £65
    X850XT PCI-E- £150

    Prices from OCUK?

Does anyone know how the 7800gs stacks up against the X850XT?

Edit: had a look, seems to perform very similarly.

Yep. Haven't really had much of a look myself. If the prices are the same, id go with the 7800GS, you have SM3.0 support as well.

You can get the X850XT for around 200quid.

x850 xt is still faster. Im so dissapionted with nvidia for releasing a crippled card. Im never going to be able to upgrade my x800xt cos there is nothing faster that will fit in my shuttle.

Buy a Sapphire GTO2 and do the BIOS mod to turn it into an 850XT. £150.

850XT will be noticeably faster than even an overclocked 6800 (used to have one). Playing something like Riddick at 12x10 on max detail brings a 6800 to its knees.

    He's on AGP. The GTO2 is PCI-Express.

If you play a lot of SM3 enabled games, goes with the 7800GS.
Power wise, from what I've seen they are around the same-ish?
