    7900 Prices on DABs

Spotted this on bit-tech and thought all you lot might want to know, dabs have the 7900GTX on pre-order for about £400, with the GT for about £240.
Prices seem pretty competetive, also seems to be some benchmarks coming out the woodwork for the 7900 GT, although I can't find the link for em now =\

looks like i might be getting a 7900 lol

Yeah the GT is nicely priced, but it'd have to do better than the 256MB X1800XT which is similarly priced...

/me hopes for a cool & quiet card!

Arr, I ordered a 7900GT - from the rumours flying around I'm guessing it's going to be competitive with, if not slightly faster than the 7800GTX (probably not the 512MB version though), and at roughly the price I was looking for. Also, I'm trying to make the system as quiet as possible, and the ATi heatsinks I've heard recently have been anything but - the 7900GT pictures that have been floating about look like they may be either a) fairly quiet or at least b) easy to make quiet with some aftermarket cooling...

Well, we shall see. If the reviews are horrible I may either cancel the order or abuse the distance-selling regulations to send it back

Wouldn't it be a better idea to see how they actually perform?

The GT seems a decent buy, but you can now get a X1800XT for 270quid, and its dropping all the time, so it will be close.

I can't see the GTX beating the XTX from the info specs ive seen so far, but 400 doesn't seem to bad as price straight away.

Won't be long now, by the end of the week?

Call me an optimist, but I thnk those cheecky chaps in the fairy shed have a few tricks up a certain sleeve or maybe not...

I'd like to get the X1800XT, or even preferably an X1900XT, but they're so noisy and I'm trying to keep this machine as quiet as possible. For the money the benchies I've seen look good enough to be worth the punt. It'll certainly do me for Oblivion.

The status on the order says stock 09/03/06 by the way, so I guess we'll find out soon enough.

If you have decent enough airflow, they shouldn't heat up much as they won't get that hot. Mine didn't spin up much, maybe 6 times in a 3 hour gaming sessionfor 10 seconds each. You can easily control it with ATI-tool or somet else anyways.

I have never ever heard the fan spin up playing games etc on the X1900XT-X with it at 690/800

I have spun it up myself on ATI Tool and damn glad I don't hear it spin up in normal use

LOL, yeah anything above 45% fan speed for me was insane.

I did bench 05 and 06, with the fan on 100% to get some pretty sweet scores and clocks, but definatly not for normal use (managed 780/868).

I now cool my X1800, with this, thanksViperJohn!
