I'm looking to upgrade my Graphics card, my rig is as per my sig and i have a Samsung 930BF 19" TFT Monitor
Which would people recommend the Ati X1800 XT 512MB or the new Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GT "Goes Like Hell" 512MB
Any help/opinions appreciated
hands down go for the 7800, you won't regret it. I regret my graphics card choice, and I heard good things about the GLH edition :).
An x1800xt is by far the superior card. 512mb on a 7800gt is wasted and I doubt that there would be a marked improvement over a 256mb 7800gt to justify the extra £70 over a standard 7800gt (that will also overclock)
x1800xt's can be had for @ £285 now. 7800gt's are sub £200, so the choice is one of cash and totally yours :) Both are excellent cards for the current outlay.
iranu's new fx5200 plutonium xtx-gs -xp-gt- "goes like the preverbial sh1t off a shovel" zomgwtfmycardpwnzulolftw111!!!!eleven111 (god I hate that so much) is still a crappy fx5200 no matter how much you dress it up.
Wouldnt you be better off with a 7800gtx for that kind of money?

EDIT, just looked on komplett and it's GTX speeds, with 512mb of memoy, so why call it a GT? Anyways for that price you can get a X1800XT.

I'm not going to argue with that, but you need to provide some frame of reference. In what respect is it superior? Image fidelity? (likely, but not 'by far') Driver support? Having used all the latest gen cards I must say that ATI's cards have some awesome features and that quality is very good :)
Nvidia's drivers for me are clearer and easier to use. I hate the way ATI use .NET - it feels clunky. The nvidia cards do things a different way to ATI cards with a different "feel" to the graphics.
The X1800XT 512mb is nowhere near as impressive as the X1900XT/XTX as far as speed + quality. The ease at which it gets those graphics on screen is simply amazing and the quality is also very good
The Nvidia cards are very good, make no mistake about that :D

a 256mb 7800gt is a great bang per buck card - the x1800xt is a superior card, but also costs more. If you have the cash get an x1800xt...if not save the money and get a regular 7800gt 256mb :D
