If you mean by 'doesn't work' that you dont get any display at all then unplug pc, check card is seated into socket correctly, double check monitor is connected correctly.

Then switch on and try again (dont forget to turn on monitor !).

If that still doesn't work, power off replace original card to verify machine is ok.

Also are you getting any beeps of any kind, if you are note the sequence.

My guess is the card hasn't seated correctly, take a look along the connector and check its gone in properly.

Could also be oxidisation on the connector on the board, but I think that is an old problem that doesn't happen on the newer kit now.

When you say little white fan wire.... Do you mean Floppy Power Connector?

Is the fan on the card's cable plugged into the header on the gfx card or have you moved this to somewhere else?

Has the motherboard connector become unplugged when you were messing with graphics cards. That would explain the no beeps.

This wont be an answer but more of a question to the other peeps that know about Radeons.... I remember something about voltage requirements on the port, agp version or something, could that be something to look into, also agp multiplier, can older boards have hassle with the 8x cards. (thats my brain storming over).

Have you tried replacing the original card to check that nothing else has gone wrong ?

hmmmm 300watt seems a bit low....
whats all connected to it ?
could be draining the required power for the gfx card....

So it works with the gf2 but not the radeon?
Sounds like a power problem to me. You will need a better quality/higher wattage psu to see the radeon in action.

what make was the psu mate? because it isn't just about wattage. an antec 430w is much much better than a q-tec 550w.
