    GF7800 or X1800 range

I know the 7800GT is technically better, but the X1800XL has the ability to run HDR with AA turned on. What I don't know however, is if the X1800 is powerful enough to take advantage of such a feature?

    7800GT... or X1800XL... just... can't... choose...

The cheapest as they are relatively matched in real gaming performance, other than the open GL, DX thing. Maybe look into overclocking, temp results etc to help? Either way both great cards for many people.

My 7800GT sits at 42C Idle and around 55C gaming Fear. It's the 3rd (maybe joint 2nd depending on the setting of 9500LED) loudest thing in my pc after the psu and 9500LED.

I know the X1900 isn't in everyones budget, but if you want power then thats what you should go for, that thing is rediculously powerful.. to the degree that the CPU/memory available today is the bottleneck.

7800GT's are quite cheap now considering how powerful they are. With the 7900GT just around the corner, they will be getting even cheaper.

On hexus news, the X1800XL is said to be had for 170quid. If you can find one that cheap, it's definatly the better option.

With normal prices, id probably lean more towards the 7800GT, although the XL does clock very well, and is better with AA, high res, as usual.

Okay, so, the cheapest X1800XL from Scan is the GeCube for £233 while the best 7800GT is the EVGA CO for £225.

Which would be better in your eyes?

I've also been looking at the 7900GT, XFX seem to have three versions:
    - standard
    - extreme
    - xxx

Would I be correct in assuming that the 'standard' version (£257) could be clocked to match the speed of the 'xxx'?

If you like to high resolutions and to turn AA on, the ATI wins hands-down IMO.

Without AA/high resolutions, I think its pretty much "pick which you prefer".

    Why just scan?

    http://www.lowestonweb.com/Products/...9-244FC6F3ABD3

Albatron 7800GT here for £199. Trying to find a good X1800XL price.........

OCUK sell the XL for £211, and they are selling a 512mb X1800XT for 250quid, that is a kick ass price!!!!! http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...aGX_2d044_2dCO and the 256mbX1800XT is the same price as most 7800GT's and X1800Xl's.
