AGP Upgrade
Ok, the time has come round again to buy one of those fancy boxes with a colourful PCB inside. I have narrowed it down to two cards:
the Radeon x850 pro or...
the Radeon x1600 pro
I'm not that good with technology and was wondering if pixel shader 3.0 with lower processing power (x1600) would be better than older generation pixel shader with higher processing power (x850).
Obviously sticking with AGP narrows my options (damn you PCIe  )
but i can get a sapphire 512Mb x1600 for £120
or a connect3d 256Mb x850 for £150.
Any help will be much appreciated thanks.
Sys Spec:
p4 2.8Mhz
1Gb RAM
creative sound card
etc etc

Why not a geforce 7800GS?

the X1600Pro would be a total waste of £ to be honest... X850Pro would be a step up but its a power house made on a basis of an old tech...
See if u can get a cheap 6800Ultra out there... I would be letting off a 6800GT in a couple of weeks.. but im not suppose to advertise now.. 5cupa would have my head.. If ur still looking later in a couple of weeks then let me know..

As you can read in my Profile, I have tried to install a BFG Nvidia 7800 GS 256MB in my system for HD 1080p video editing. Unfortunately when I use the drivers that came with my Card v81.98 sent black screens to my monitors. I hope to try the new drivers tonight v84.20. BFG support mentioned that because my Tyan S2460 motherboard is server class that is why it would not work, but they are going to escalate my request as I want to use this card.
Has anybody else tried installing this new AGP 7800 video card in their Tyan S2460 board ( if anyone has this board out their, cross my fingers)?
It's funny the card works with the motherboard, but not with the drivers and not WITHOUT mirroring my displays. But I can choose Higher Resolutions. I wish I did not get greedy and wanted to run 1080p video on my computer. Unfortunately the Radeon X850Xt worked beautifully except for Not playing back 1080p video. It displayed a resolution of 2304x1440 @ 80hz. I should have been happy with what I had.
