The Powercolour X1800XT just caught my eye.. Its retailing much cheaper than other... Just wondering why is it so cheap compared to other brands?
I sort of remembered there's 2 variants to X1800XT, those that run on an older PCB have some sort of inferior mosfets that hinders overclocks.. could that be the reason?
Any ideas? Any hexus pimps have this card? And how well does it clock?
I'll be getting one later if its all okay..
Dunno, the PowerColor stuff seems to be cheaper just about everywhere.
Maybe it's because it doesn't really have a bundle with it? No games, no srubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishy utilities or anything? I just bought an X1900XT from PowerColor, and you just get the card, some leads, a driver CD and some DVD utilities which I haven't even bothered to install yet. Save money by not being given games you've either probably already got or would never buy anyway?
Its cause powercolor cards have a built in C4 charge which detonates 1 hour after the warranty expires........... no really :lol:
Powercolor and Connect 3d are the cheapest brands cause they dont do anything fancy.

Feel sort of bad jumping boat to ATI... But the Pwclr X1800XTs price is just too tempting to resist..
Ebuyer have an ace price on the 256MB X1800XT.
Well, for £40 more I get to have double the frambuffer.. :)
Not much difference I know, but I've considered both.. and dropped it on the 512MB Pwrclr

Well, its still a step up from a 7800GT yes? Either way I still needed a card for my new PCI-E system..
My system was struggling with 1440x900 with 4xAA and 16xAF.. I'm sure this card will probably help..
The ATI cards seem to be in a different league in high resolutions with AA on......you should be very happy :)
I also recently switched to ATI after about 6 nVidia cards in a row, you shouldn't feel bad switching at all, just buy what gives you the best performance and/or value at the time.
Newegg.com has a Powercolor X1900XT 512 MByte with a lifetime warranty for the lowest price of any X1900, (and much lower price than the 7900GTX 512 MByte.) It's looking like a good bargain to me, except for that darned noise issue.Quote:
