Widescreen vs dual 20"
Well I have been debating this for a few weeks, I think I have decided but I wanted to check here first before I made my purchase. I am considering the dell fpw2405 for my widescreen, or 2 X 20.1 with 1600x1200 rez. I am as of right now leaning toward the dell fpw2405 simply for the reason that i can always get 2 of these if I like the first one alot, or even get the widescreen and get a 20.1 with 1600x1200 for gaming and keep the widescreen for my desktop apps such as photoshop, macromedia flash etc..
If anyone owns a dell 2405 can you advise me on this? Should i just get two dells? Thanks for all your help

If you do much gaming you'll want the widescreen, it simply rocks. :)

I do some gaming, my time is split between web development and some gaming when I get a chance a few times per week. I like the idea of movies now and then as well. I am looking at getting the Dell for now, and then perhaps a 20.1 or another dell to go with it, depending on what I need. I still have another 19" lcd and a 21" crt to use if i want to check out dual setups before I go and buy another monitor in addition to my dell.
Any thoughts?

Widescreen is the way to go.

So how are u loving that 19'' Acer KoolPC?
-
Well, only had it one day but first impression is that it is AWESOME!! Superb Picture quality and nice size too. Nice to have a wide screen. Played BF2 and that looked ace!

I love my dual 2001FP, perfect for day-to-day work. Although it might cause you neck problem because its too wide!
You could pivot both monitors and get an overall 2400x1600 resolution, which you can fit 4 1200x800 windows :)
The only drawback is the nview software (for nvidia cards) is really unstable and caused most of my reboots/bsods.

I really don't see the need for 2 monitors! Takes up loads of space too.
-
Well, if ur work needs it.. u'll find the reason to get it..
Nothing beats stretching amino acid sequences across 2 19'' 1440pix widescreen to examine it.. no more dragging mouse or directional buttons.. Best investment in 2006 yet, never going back to single screen.. EVER

Fair enough. If it is good for you then i can understand but for myself i have no need for 2 monitors.

Widescreen is the future: wether you are gaming, watching a film or simply just using Windows, you benefit from it greatly :)

The Dell 2405FPW is simply amazing.
Use it with your Xbox360 or DVD player aswell as VGA+DVI.
Not much you cant plug into one really!

Thanks for the advice everyone, I think I will go wtih the Dell, I am probably just going to use my 21" crt for gaming until I get another 21" LCD or 20.1 that supports 1600x1200 for gaming . The dell 2407 I see is just coming out now, might have to wait a few weeks and get that one, I believe it has full HDCP support so when vista comes I should be set.

Good choice.
Widescreen is the future.

Another vote for widescreen here!
Using a 2405 and I really couldn't go back to 2 separate monitors tbh.
