    7900GT vs 7800GTX

    So which one wins this contest, both are available for about the same ammount but which ones gunna give be the highest FPS in Quake Wars when it comes out?

    EDIT: It would seem the 900 edges its way infront, and its slightly cheaper.

    Now how about the 7900gtx vs a 1900xt (both 512mb)

    7900gt > 7800gtx as u now know.
    7900gtx = 1900xt or thereabouts.

    Even though ati's OpenGL has come on leaps and bounds id still say the 7900gtx will be quicker for quake wars.

    Although the X1900 is quite a bit faster - at the same image quality settings- than the 7900, nvidia hsa always been a solid open gl performer so I would go for the 7900 if you want to play games like Quake 4 and Quake wars at max settings

    7900GT definitely.. runs cooler, plays faster.. and most importantly, its cheaper...

    Might also consider X1800XTs offerings, most are selling off for pretty cheap prices.. I got mine for pretty cheap off Scan
    Me want Ultrabook

    A 7900GT will have monster overclockable headroom due to it's build qualities and at £199 it's a tempting option. If we are talking 512mb against a 256mb card, I'd go with the bigger memory for Quake 4 inorder to use the uncompressed textures.

    Rhyth is selling:
    Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di ll LD Aspherical (IF) £230 +pp
    Canon 50mm 1.8 II £50 +pp
    Proven good copies.

    For me, one of the selling points of the 7900gt is the enormous overclocking potential. With a relatively simple volt mod, gtx speeds are attainable. (That said, I note your not planning to overlock.)
