Hey, I'm currently looking into building a new pc for my m8, pritty much he wants it to be good enought to play Unreall 2003, lol

So i've got an idea of everything except the graphics card, Cheap as pos but needs to be able to play UT

btw, the rest of the system will be
    AMD xp 1700+
    512 crucial pc2700
    NF7-s motherboard
    enermax 350w psu

Thanks for the help guys, and also i'd rather get it from Ocuk as thats where everything eles is coming from, if not there then defently not Ebuyer cuase they've messed up to many orders for me now

The Radeon 9600 isnt a bad buy, will play UT2003 well with anistrophic and anti-aliasing

    PowerColor Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB - Retail (GX-007-PC)
    for 126.90

Or pay the extra and get one that can overclock well..

    Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB TV-Out/DVI - Retail (GX-020-SP)
    for 132.19

But i feel the 9700 is worth the extra money..
    Sapphire ATI Radeon 9700 128MB DDR DVI/TV - Retail (GX-008-SP)
    for 185.06

Does he want it to play ut2003 on the highest settings, or does he want it to play it on medium? Because, there is no need to splash out £120 when you can get a radeon 9200, or a ti4200 which are both capable of playing the game on medium to high, and they cost in the region of £60-£70.
    Just my 2p.

My Radeon 9600 Pro is running UT2k3 very nicely with my AMD Thunderbird (getting slightly long in the legs now) at 1.4ghz.

TBH the Ti4200 and Radeon 9200 will cope with UT2K3 but anything newer like UT2K4, Doom 3 and Half Life 2 and they will struggle. As a longer term investment I would say the Radeon 9600 Pro is a great card without breaking the bank completely.

Look at the Leadtek Ti4200 on OCUK for £70, amazing value. Outperforms most of the current mid range cards without filtering. It wont struggle with the next generation games as much as DX9 cards in the same price range. It will ignore the new DX9 features giving decent framerates whilst the likes of the 5200 / 9200 fall over themselves trying to render stuff they just arn't capable of.

I know for a fact you can get a soft-moddable 9500 non pro 128mb card for £135 inclusive.

Your mate would be well pleased at 9700 pro speeds for £135.00

Even if you didn't mod it it's still a very fast card and would play Unreal 2003 no problems.

    You can see it HERE

There's a boat load of other cards to choose from there as well.

    Hope this helps m8

    Just check the site m8y.....

Confirmed it earlier on today....The cards are the Grandmars ones, but hey....they come with a years guarantee and they are tested to check for artifacts e.t.c. also the guy guarantees they soft-mod.

Just look 1/2 way down the page and you'll see the price for a "standard" 9500 non pro (£104) and the "moddable" 9500 non pro (£134) both are £4 for delivery and £1 to insure it.

    9700 pro speeds for £135 delivered m8y.

That site looks kinda dodgy to me..

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=48722

One of those, no hassle with warranties (besides the softmod isn't exactly garanteed to work) , and it'll overclock like buggery.
