Guides ??? you just need a pair of pliers to squeeze the tips of the plastic gromets together on the reverse of the card.

I replaced the stock MSI cooler on my GF4 with the ThermalTake one, and it seems just fine. I can't give you any specific temps, but I have been able to overclock quite a bit You also get some memory heatsinks with it as well, but I havn't tried them yet.

Caged - See the two white plastic protrusions on the back of the card. Squeeze these with pliers and the thing will fall apart. The clips have a flat base which you can see on the front of the card and they end with a plastic V, the prongs of the V are what is holding it together just squeeze these and the clip will go back through the hole allowing the parts to seperate. It's not difficult honest.

All the GF4 chips (Ti Series) are the same so all should be capable of at least 300Mhz with adequate cooling. I'm surprised that mine does 320 with the potential for more as I think most top out at 315. So all cards cores can run on par with the 4600. It's the memory that is different, and it's memory that makes the most difference in 3dMark scores. My card has probably the worst fitted to the GF4 Ti series the 4600 had pretty good memory. I'm not sure what the stock memory speed of a 4600 is but if overclocked it will whoop my cards bottom.

Overclocking - I use rivatuner which you can get from www.guru3d.com and there is a usefull guide on how to use it at www.boogletech.com. If you want to overclock via the display properties within windows then you can allow this by adding a registry entry - http://www.overclockers.com.au/techstuff/a_coolbits/

No my fan doesn't click but this thread is about replacing the stock fan so start from the beginning as it might be a useful project for you

It looks good but it's not very well designed, the sink doesn't make contact with the memory it just holds the heat in and makes the memory run hotter than it would without a sink.

Acctually, not all the cores are capable of 300mhz. The ones that arent are downmarked.

I take it the holes are in the same position as the reference boards, so I can use the Vantec?

All GF4's should have the reference holes in the same place.
