6800gs Vs 1600xt
Which do you guys think is better?
6800GS
X1600XT
The 1600 has much better speeds on the mem, but is 128 bit vs 256 for the 6800. Does this make a big difference? I read and heard that the 6800 basically kicks the 1600's butt, but I've only seen that 1 place and it wasn't really reliable. I also saw it in a review on hexus here but just wanted to make sure. I'm sure this has been asked before but it seems like posts get pushed out pretty fast. So is the 6800 a better choice?

I think this is the link you've been looking for:
[H]ardOCP. They are reliable.
The 6800GS is better.
That said, the 7600GT is better than all of them, and you can buy for £136 from Dabs, or even a still pretty good and silent 7600GS for £101 from Scan (inc free delivery).
Hardwarezone compares all 3, plus some other relevant cards, to show the 7600GS to be approx equal to an x1600XT (but alot cheaper).
Hope that helps!
Edit: Just remembered your original posts use Newegg in the US. Newegg shows the 7600GS to be $139, and the 7600GT to be $184. Don't get either the x1600XT or 6800GS, but choose one of the two 7600's.

6800 will whip the X1600's ass, X1600 is a budget mainstream card whilst the 6800 is a previous high end card... easy decision ;D

No contest.. 6800GS is definitely a winner..
But a 7600GT wins hands down.. Better than anything mid range at the moment..
X1800GTO looks pretty good but seems rather misplaced at the moment.. do u compare that with a 7600GT? or a 7800GT?

Erm I wondered if this 6800 is considerably better than the X1600 The X1600 I would say is better because it is modern and has sm3.0 etc. But like it sais above does the 6800 oooownn the 1600? :undecided

Well in the above we're talking about the 6800GS and the 1600XT.
Your links are to the much inferior 6800XT and 1600pro. All 6800's are Sm3.0 etc, so no worries on that front, but the 6800GS is much faster than all 1600s. The Xt however.. hard to say - I think the performance would basically be identical at the moment so it's a question of vendor preference. For those, I would probably go with the 1600pro, because as it's a newer technology it's probably going to improve more with drivers. But close call.
