Any idea where I can get a(nother) 7800GT from?

    Righty then...
I've been using an XFX 7800GT for the past few months with a view to going SLI after my uni finals (for a massive Oblivion binge!!!)

The only problem is, the supply of 7800GTs in the channel appears to have dried up - any thoughts on where I can get a card from? How risky is getting one on eBay likely to be?

Or should I just try to sell the card on eBay and pick up a 7900GT? Is a 7900 GT likely to be around for longer?

    Thoughts/Comments welcome!

7900Gt, keep the 7800 for physics processing I think a 7900/7800 combination should work for SLI anyway

    I don't think you can mix a 7800GT and 7900GT in SLI.

The Forceware 80 drivers do allow you to mix and match graphics cards from different manufacturers, but they must have the same GPU.

I did google first - The majority of the links that come up either have none in stock or are reviews. Half of them take you to pages that have 7600, 7800GS and 7900 cards. I'm still having difficulty finding a reasonably priced 7800GT that is in stock, in the UK.

The 7800GT and 7900GT definitely will not work in SLI - the cards are architecturally different and SLI currently only works with cards from the same generation.

The physics processing thing is still a way off and I'd probably get an Ageia card as they're likely to provide better performance than an old graphics card.

Yeah you're right, it's quite hard to find a 7800GT in stock for sub£200.

Anyway, I did find one on LOW: http://www.lowestonweb.com/Products/...2-1552DC4E38E5

    Hope that helps.

£200 Ouch, bugger that, buy mine and save your penny's.

And yes a 7900 will not work in sli config with a 7800.

Good call! I've been hoping to find one for less than the £175 I payed for my current one. Not sure that's going to happen though!
